Changing Your Diet to Lower Your Cholesterol

It is important to lower cholesterol level because cholesterol has been associated with the development of coronary heart disease. The higher the level of cholesterol in an individual, the more likely he will be developing heart disease later on. High cholesterol levels can also put a person at risk of suffering from a stroke or a heart attack.

To help reduce your risk, you can limit the following in your diet:

  • Fats, especially saturated fats
  • All foods containing partially hydrogenated vegetable oils (most margarine’s and baked goods.
  • Dairy fats, such as whole milk, cheese made with whole milk, butter, egg yolks, sour cream.
  • Vegetable oil and lard
  • Beef, especially the less-lean cuts
  • Alcohol
  • Products made of refined sugars and flours

Price (whether the market likes to admit it or not) really is controlled by consumer demand for products and services. When demand falls, price also falls. When demand increases, price also increases. It’s a simple formula that isn’t very easily manipulated (although the oil companies are doing a pretty good job of manipulating it at the present, but that’s another article).
